Healthy fruit smoothies -
Tropical smoothie and
Blueberry Lemon Smoothie

Many of us are consuming healthy fruit smoothies at breakfast to jump start our day, while others prepare smoothies as a snack or summertime treat. Smoothie preparation isn't all that messy, mix the ingredients in your blender or smoothie maker and rinse out and wash the appliance (usually just two pieces).

Health and government organizations recommend we eat five to nine fruits and vegetables a day. Healthy fruit smoothies are a delicious way to get a serving or two of fruit and their vitamins, cancer-fighting antioxidants and other nutrients that prevent disease.

The first recipe is provided by my teenage daughter, Sarah, who also took the accompanying photo. This delicious smoothie contains a blend of frozen fruits and fresh blueberries. I had the other serving in this batch and I can say, the smoothie takes as good as it looks!

Sarah's Funfetti Chill

  • 2 cups of mixed frozen pineapple, mango, strawberries and peaches
  • 1/4 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1/2 cup of FiberOne no fat strawberry yogurt
  • One up of orange juice
  • Put all ingredients into a blender and blend until they become a smooth icy mixture. Then garnish with a strawberry and colorful straw. This smoothie is great for hot summer days or fun summer parties.
