Additional resources
Below are online resources that you might find helpful as you make your journey to healthful living.
www.whfoods.org - (My #1 pick) This website is produced by the George Mateljan Foundation, a not-for-profit foundation with no commercial interests. It is an excellent resource for finding information on healthy foods, using foods as a treatment for various conditions and accessing free healthy recipes. This site offers daily and weekly email newsletters. I opt for the weekly one, I can't keep up with the daily issues.
www.umm.edu/altmed - The University of Maryland Medical Center hosts an indepth and easy to use website with loads of information on complementary and alternative medicine. You can look up treatment options by condition, and you can research herbs and supplements and their side effects. Very informative!
www.naturalnews.com - This website contains a wealth of information on natural therapies for health conditions, news on the latest research related to nutrition and medicine. The website founder, Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, also sometimes offers scathing editorial pieces about politics, the medical establishment and government agencies and officials. I receive the e-mail newsletter offered by this website, it comes 2 to 3 times a week and has lots of articles in each issue.
www.jonnybowden.com - This site features articles and videos created by Dr. Jonny Bowden, who has a PhD in nutrition, and has written best selling books on health-promoting foods, natural cures and weight loss strategies. Visitors can sign up for a periodic newsletter covering nutrition and natural health-related topics. If you are looking for tools for weight loss, the site offers a variety of resources (click the red shopping tab and select audio books).
