About me...
and why I started this website

My name is Cathy and I decided to build this website after my husband, daughter and I had some pretty remarkable health results using natural approaches. Here's the story in a nutshell. In 2006, after my stepfather had to move to a nursing home at the young age of 67, my husband Jeff and I decided we needed to pay attention to our health so that same thing did not happen to us.

Jeff had always taken vitamins, plus every day he swallowed big glucosomine tablets for painful arthritis in his knee. The glucosomine tablets weren't doing the trick as the knee pain was so bad he started looking for a surgeon for knee replacement surgery. I was concerned about how we'd pay our bills when had to be off of work 4 months to recover from that type of surgery.

I tried taking a name brand vitamin but didn't feel any different when I took them. About that time, we learned about the benefits of taking liquid supplements as pills are often not absorbed.

My husband, daughter and I started consuming a liquid whole food supplement made of aloe vera, sea vegetables, black cherry, honey and stevia. Jeff switched to a liquid glucosomine product that included other ingredients for optimum absorption and utilization.

After a couple of weeks, Jeff noticed his knee pain improving and after two months the pain was literally gone. Yesterday, on Feb. 10, 2009, he completed a 35-minute workout on a stair stepper with no knee pain.

Before adding the aloe vera/sea vegetable juice to my daily routine, I took ibuprofen upon rising every day for back pain and I had been on anti-depressants for about 12 years. Within a few weeks, my back pain was gone, I stopped taking ibuprofen, my energy soared and I weaned myself off of anti-depressants.

In addition, my cholesterol levels had been rising even though I went to aerobics class twice a week. The doctor was talking about prescribing cholesterol medicine if I couldn't get my numbers down through diet and exercise. About 4 months after I started the aloe vera juice, I had my annual exam and my cholesterol had dropped to 185 from the 208 it had been the year before. The only thing I had changed in my daily life was to take the aloe vera/sea vegetable juice.

My daughter had struggled with daily panic attacks after she had to undergo surgery for a ruptured appendix. Psychologists were recommending putting my 14-year-old girl on prescriptions to curb the panic and anxiety. This was not a route I wanted to take. A month or so after she started the aloe vera/sea vegetable juice, her panic attacks and anxiety subsided and today they are totally gone.

All of these results led me to research why this small addition to our diet helped us so much. I read books, surfed the net, joined natural health groups, attended seminars, and subscribed to natural health newsletters. I found lots of studies on the benefits of aloe vera and sea vegetables which explained our experience. In the process, I found a lot of other natural remedies for common ailments. The information I have uncovered in studies and gathered in newsletters and at seminars, is the basis for this website.

I don't have a degree in medicine or nutrition but have learned there are many other approaches to handling health issues besides prescriptions, which can have serious side effects. I'm using my knowledge for my own health and have become a contributing writer to a Minneapolis/St. Paul area magazine on natural health, Twin Cities Naturally. You can visit the magazine at www.tcnaturally.com.

You are invited to check back to visit this site from time to time as I will continually be adding sections to offer information on potential natural remedies for more health issues.
